Eugene F. Hoppe, 84, Burlington, died Dec. 27, 2011, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. He was born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Burlington, to the late Louis and Florence (Brooks) Hoppe.
He spent his early life in Waterford and Union Grove and was a graduate of Union Grove High School.
He had proudly served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
On Sept. 17, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married Jeanne I. Delaney. Following marriage they resided in Burlington.
He had worked for UPS for 32 years and Miller Motors for 22 years. He loved his job. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid Packer fan. He was a proud grandfather and loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife; son, Daniel L. (Stephanie Ashley) Hoppe, of Eagle; grandsons, Douglas Hoppe and Michael and Karl Ruschman; sister, Eileen Curtis; sister-in-law, Jane Delaney; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Bob Curtis, Dan Delaney and Pat Delaney.
Visitation is Friday, Dec. 30, from 4 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Joseph Debski is officiating. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday, Jan. 6, at 9 a.m.
