Marty C. Christopherson, 72, Lyons. died at his home Nov. 24, 2011. He was born June 13, 1939, to the late Martin and Violet (Wick) Christopherson in Superior, where he spent his early life, graduating from Superior Central High School.
On Sept. 29, 1957, he joined the U.S. Navy serving his term on the USS Manley until Jan. 12, 1962, when he was honorably discharged.
He married Patricia Smith Sept. 29, 1962, in Park Falls. They spent 13 years in Kenosha, then moved to Lyons where they resided the past 36 years. He was retired but had many different interests in his working career. He had worked at American Motors Corp, at the Kenosha Power Plant, as an insurance salesman and as an Amsoil dealer. He was very handy at building fences, fireplace mantels, decks, roofing and working on stained glass windows. In his earlier years he was an avid pool player, enjoyed darts, horseshoes, golf, softball, card games, cribbage, pinochle, euchre and drawing cartoons.
Survivors include his wife; children, Michelle (Joe) DeRosia, Dale Christopherson and Charlene (Patti Rozeski) Rizzo; grandchildren. Allie Daniels and Jordan Rizzo; stepmother, Helen Christopherson; siblings, Jean Tansil, Kristeen (Don) Johnson, Claralynn Smith; sister-in-law, Gladys Ericksen; stepsister, Bev (Ben) Galowits; stepbrother, Dennis (Darlene) Otwaska; sisters-in-law, Laura Weeks, Kathy (Ted) Melnychuk; brothers-in-law, John (Sylvia) Smith, and Robert (Nan) Smith; nieces; nephews; other relatives and his beloved dog Copper.
He was further preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Ericksen.
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 1, from 2 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m., at Cross Lutheran Church, 126 Chapel Terrace, Burlington. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is assisting the family.
