Della D. Rowntree, 96, Dover Township, died April 17, 2012, at Linden Grove Nursing Home in Mukwonago. She was born in Caldwell on Oct. 25, 1915, to the late Samual and Alma (Jenerjohn) Hotz.
She was a 1934 graduate of Waterford Union High School.
In August of 1934 she married Donald Francis Rowntree. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She worked on the Rowntree homestead farm with her husband most of their married life. She also volunteered thousands of hours with the Burlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She sewed her own clothes, baked homemade bread and spent time in her flower garden. She also loved to travel, especially overseas to England and Germany.
Survivors include her sons, Charles ‘Chuck’ (Carol), Burlington, James ‘Jim’ (Rayanne), Florida; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Myrna Wolf of Caldwell; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Donna in 1943; brothers, Arnold and Norman Hotz; and nephew, Garth Hotz.
Funeral services were April 21 at Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford. The Rev. Ron Christensen of East Troy Bible Church officiated. Burial was in Rochester Cemetery. Memorials to Burlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary are suggested.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Linden Grove, Mukwonago, for their special care of Della.
