Dorothy J. Bollwahn, 87, Twin Lakes, died March 15, 2012, at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1924, in Burlington, to the late Gerald and Iva (Barlement) Travis. She spent her early life in Burlington and attended Burlington Schools and Racine-Kenosha Normal School.
On July 31, 1945, in Slades Corners, she married Carl Chester “Bud” Bollwahn Jr. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 2002.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary and attended church at Burlington United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling and was loved by many people. She was a great cook and loved to cook for her family or anyone in need of a warm meal.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Kathy) Bollwahn, Huntsville, Ala., JoAnne Fell, Burlington, Candy Kadlec, Burlington, and Billie Jo (Lloyd) Kaczmarek, Milwaukee; grandchildren, Wendy Bollwahn, Kelly Heilert, John Fell Jr., Brad Fell, Nikki (Lee) Henning, Jamie Peterson, Crystal (Rick) Kuhnke, Melinda (Brandon) Maytum, Benjamin (Angela) Kaczmarek, Brandon Kaczmarek, Harvey (Cari) Hogan Jr. and Kristin Roe; 17 great-grandchildren with two on the way; one great-great-grandchild with one on the way; sister, Grace Lust, Phoenix; and brother, Ron (Beth)Travis, London, England.
She was further preceded in death by her son, Carl William Bollwahn, and sisters, Bessie Bork, Geraldine Hollister and Loretta Ripley. A graveside service is Monday, March 19, at 2 p.m., at Burlington Cemetery with Rev. Marjorie Rice Myers officiating. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.
