DOROTHY L. PERVISKY

Dorothy Louise (Herricks) Pervisky went to her eternal home on July 4, 2012. A longtime resident of Burlington, she most recently resided at Ridgestone Terrace in Elkhorn.

Dorothy was the youngest child of Anton and Margaret (Fuenger) Herricks.  She was born Feb. 9, 1927, on the family farm in Cashton. She attended Sacred Heart Church and graduated from Cashton High School in 1944. She moved to La Crosse where she met Edwin A. Pervisky and on Oct. 25, 1947, they were married at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Their early years were spent in La Crosse where Dorothy was a homemaker. Dorothy and Edwin later moved to Kenosha, then settled in Burlington in 1963. They joined St. Charles Church where Dorothy remained a member the rest of her life. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1969.

She began working at Nestles in 1967 and retired from there in 1992. She was a devoted mother, a good friend to many, and an excellent cook. Her home was always open for friends to drop in unannounced where they would be treated to a delicious home-cooked meal, a dessert or snacks. She loved working on crafts and gardening, then giving her homemade gifts to her friends and family. She baked pies and contributed crafts each year to the St. Charles Fall Festival. Dorothy was adept at home repairs. No job was too big or too small. She loved local theater productions and seldom missed a show. That passion was shared with her children and grandchildren.

In her earlier years she loved to dance. Each Sunday her children would gather at her home to spend time together and enjoy a home-cooked meal. Family would look forward to her homemade spaghetti and meatballs, “they were the best.”

Survivors include her children, Michael (Beverly Jenkins) Pervisky, Carole (Robert) Rodemeyer, Kathleen (Chris) Fiorini, Joseph (Jane Rider) Pervisky, Barbara (Robert) Greenwald; grandchildren, Samuel Gauger, Lisa (Toby) Franzen, Sylvia and Katherine Rodemeyer, Michael Brabazon, Andrew Greenwald, and Nicholas Pervisky; great-grandchildren, Chance Gauger, and Isabella Franzen; special niece, Marie Catherine Hazen; sister-in-law, Betty Herricks; many dear nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and also her best friend Joy Sebranek.

She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Marie, Martha (Lawrence), Leonard, Florence (Ray) and Evelyn (Jim); an infant grandson, Edwin Michael Pervisky; and brother-in-law, Richard (Janice) Przywojski.

Visitation is Thursday, July 12, from 1 p.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial will take place following the service at St. Charles Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.

Dorothy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ridgestone Terrace, Odyssey Hospice and to her loving caregiver, Lisa Cooper.
