Edmund Ewald Kietzer Jr., 89, Lily Lake, died July 25, 2012, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.
He was born May 5, 1923, in Chicago, to the late Minnie (Mueller) and Dr. Edmund Kietzer. He was baptized on July 15, by A.D. Wangerin, pastor of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago and was confirmed at Tabor on March 21, 1937.
He graduated from Tabor Lutheran School in 1937 and Roosevelt High School in Chicago in 1941. He went on to graduate from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree on June 18, 1948, and was a member of the Kappa Psi Fraternity.
He worked for 30 years at Keeler Pharmacy in Chicago. He proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 138th Engineers during World War II, European Theatre Operations.
He married Lucille “Lulu” Michaels Magliano on May 21, 1967, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, Ill., by the Rev. Norbert Meyer. Following marriage they lived in Elmhurst, Ill., before moving to Lily Lake in 1979. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Burlington, serving the Lord as an Elder for many years. He was also a chairman for the Board of Stewardship and was a former member of the American Legion #806.
Survivors include his wife; sister, Elaine Kietzer; lifelong friend, Marvin “Bud” Graber; cousins; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Mildred; many aunts; uncles; cousins and friends.
Visitation is Sunday, July 29, from 1:30-3:45 p.m., with funeral services at 4 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 417 S. Kane St., Burlington. The Rev. Robert Bolling will officiate. Burial will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, July 30, at noon. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.
