Eleanor Lillian (Salvesen) Thayer, 95, died quietly of natural causes Dec. 21, 2012. She was born in Chicago Nov. 30, 1917.
She worked for the coin handling division of the Keene Corporation in Chicago for more than 40 years until her retirement in 1979. While residing at the Francis Meadows Apartments, Eleanor enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and many other activities. She enjoyed fishing, spending many years fishing in the lakes of Wisconsin. She was also a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Burlington.
Survivors include her son, Richard Fruehauf (Veronica); stepdaughter, Gladys Mabey (David); grandchildren, Andrea Fruehauf, Deirdre Franzese (Keith), Thomas Harper (Chere), James Harper, Michael Harper (Stephanie); four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elsie Salvesen, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Fruehauf in 1964, and her second husband, James Thayer in 1999.
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 27, from noon until time of services at 2 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Eleanor will be cremated, and her ashes spread with those of her second husband.
