George S. Street, 87, Lake Geneva, died March 18, 2012, at Aurora Burlington Memorial Hospital. He was born May15, 1924, to the late George and Mabel (Momeny) Street in Albee, S.D. His early life was spent in Mankato, Minn., where he graduated from high school. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy for four years.
He married Mary Boede on April 29, 1950, at St. Barbara’s church in Milwaukee where they lived the first four years of their married life. They resided and raised their family for 39 years in Slades Corners before moving to Lake Geneva 17 years ago.
For 10 years he was a bus driver for Greyhound and he worked as a truck driver for Quality Carriers for 33 years until retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, fishing and was an avid hunter. Most of all he treasured the time he spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife; children, Dan (Shirley) Street, Kathy (Jerry) Wehner, Pat (Cathy) Street, Steve Street and Tom (Liz) Street; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in law, Charlene Street and Ruth (Len) Golembiewski.
He was further preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard and Michael Street, and grandchildren, Heather and Joshua Street.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. George Krismer, Dr. Moran from Burlington Aurora Clinic, and Dr. Hastings from St. Luke’s in Milwaukee and the many ICU nurses at the Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington for all their care and compassion.
Visitation is Friday, March 23, from 4 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. A private burial at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at a later date.
