Jack Beardsley, 91, a lifelong resident of Waterford, died Jan. 8, 2012. He was born on July 6, 1920, to the late Elam and Nettie (Plucker) Beardsley on a farm five miles south of Mukwonago, where he still lived.

On April 25, 1942, he married Mary A. Lewis. She preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2000.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Waterford.

He received his education at Buttles School and graduated from Waterford High School in 1937. In the 40s he bought a milk route and also bought the farm from his parents. He sold the milk route and got out of farming in 1952 and started in the oil business with Shell Oil in Burlington. He was employed there for six years before moving to Holz & Swan in 1982.

He was the Waterford Town Chairman for a number of years. He joined the Kiwanis Club in Mukwonago in 1959, of which he remained a member for more than 40 years.  He served as president and treasurer for many years and attended five international conventions plus many district conventions.

He flipped lots of pancakes at the pancake breakfasts at the Congregational Church and barbecued lots of chicken at the Village Park.

In the 70s he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Mukwonago Citizens Bank on which he served for 30 years.

After he retired, to stay busy, he worked at Dr. Connor’s mini-golf and at the auto-wash in Mukwonago. He was usually tinkering with something but his all-time favorite thing to do was driving the tractor for his great-nephew Tim.

Survivors include his children, Sally Tymus, Peggy (Leo) Marti, both Green Bay, and Jeff (Jan) Beardsley, Elkhorn; grandchildren, Tracie (Alan), Nick, Kelli (Tom), Jamie (Mark); great-grandchildren, Courtney, Grace, Maxx, Harry, Casey, Reid, Adam, Brody, Ellen; long time special friends, Joyce Schlitz and Betty Potokar; and special upstairs nephew, Jerry Hoppe; other relatives and friends.
