JAMES A. FRAUTSCHY


James Arthur Frautschy, 84, Burlington, died June 4, 2012, at Memorial Hospital  of Burlington after a brief illness. He was born on July 27, 1927, in Monroe, to the late Arthur and Bertha (Jefferies) Frautschy.

After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. At the end of the War, he entered UW Madison, graduating in 1950 with a degree in animal science. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

On June 3, 1951, he married Deonne Missfeldt of Lake Mills. He was employed by Murphy Products Co, followed by Milk Specialties, until his retirement in the late 1980s.

In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, working on his computer, reading and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 2, 2012, Jim, along with his two close friends, traveled on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C., and had a wonderful time.

Survivors include his wife; children, Mark (Missy) Frautschy, Greenfield, Kim (John) Brosel, Burlington; grandchildren, Dennis, Steven, Eileen, Elizabeth, Claire (Jeff) Spiegelhoff, and Katie; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Hannah and by other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey.

Visitation is Sunday, June 10, from 2 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m., at Veterans Terrace at Echo Park, Burlington. The Rev. Chuck Cervenka will officiate. The family requests you come celebrate Jim’s life dressed in his favorite Badger colors, red and white. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is assisting the family.

Memorials have been suggested to the Burlington Rescue Squad, the University of Wisconsin Alumni Foundation or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Jim’s caregiver and friend, Ed Lee, and also to the doctors and hospital staff.
