Jean A. Smith, 82, Burlington, died Nov. 24, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Burlington. She was born March 13, 1930, to the late Hans and Isla (Kneubuhler) in Wisconsin Dells where she spent her early life. She attended the Wisconsin Dells Public Schools and graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
She married Gerald Gutzler in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1969. In 1971 she married Gus Malone. He preceded her in death in 1983. On March 18, 1985, she married Albert Smith in Carson City, Nev. She was a lifetime resident of Burlington.
She owned and operated Elsie’s, a Burlington women’s clothing store for many years. She took much pride in her shop and helping her customers.
Survivors include her daughter, Tara (Mark) Pippin; stepchildren, Michael Malone, Lisbeth (Bill) Malone-Breuer, Justin Smith, Cameron Smith, Debra Smith, Samantha Smith; grandchildren, Leah (Joseph Swirkowski) Pippin, Drew (Niccole Reichstadt) Pippin, Paige (Adam) Bower; step-grandsons, Justin and Tyler Breuer; brother, Dr. Hans (Helen) Kneubuhler.
She was further preceded in death by a stepdaughter Mary Noel Malone.
Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 3 p.m., until time of services at 6 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Larry Williams will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to Love Inc.
