JIM CONGER


Jim Conger, 64, Random Lake, died peacefully Sept. 23, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born March 27, 1948, in Streator, Ill., to the late Charles and Mary Mahjer Conger. After high school, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee. He went on to work for Briggs and Stratton, and later as an Iron Worker for the Local #8, based out of Milwaukee.

On May 7, 1977, he married Theresa Vos in New Munster. They moved their young family to Random Lake in 1987. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Mary Parish in Random Lake, the Random Lake Rod & Gun Club, the Ozaukee-Washington Land Trust, and the Random Lake Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at their cabin. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Ella, and his two cats Buddy and Peanut.

Among family and friends, Jim will be remembered for his hunting stories, and sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Random Lake; children, Brian (Karron) Conger of Madison and Julie (Peter) Lord of McFarland; granddaughter, Ella Lord; brother, Bill Conger of Lake Mills; sister, Carol (Gordon) Datti of Marseilles, Ill.; sister-in-law, Barb Conger of Muskego; mother-in-law, Rita (the late Arthur) Vos of Burlington; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was further preceded in death by his brother, Charles Conger II.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 28, at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Mary Chapel, 300 Butler St., Random Lake. The family will receive visitors at the church Friday from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust (owlt.org) or the Random Lake Rod & Gun Club (rlrgc.com) are suggested.
