JUNE REESMAN

June Reesman, beloved mother, doting grandmother, and baseball afficionado, passed away suddenly on July 18, 2012 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Ill. Her generous spirit and effervescent love of life will be missed by her family and the many people she touched during her 77 years.

June’s life was like a thrilling game of baseball: every minute jam-packed with action, culminating with her sliding into home base, leaving everything she had and no regrets, out on the field.

She was born on June 21, 1935, to the late Charles and Edna Garland in Kenosha. She started life swinging, the second youngest of five children, and rounded first base by graduating high school at a precocious 15 years of age. June was a resident of Milwaukee and Detroit for much of her professional life, leading off and stealing second while working as a concierge for the Marriott Hotel and Riverfront Towers, and later as an executive assistant at Teradyne in Northbrook, Ill.

Her incredible gift for working with people and providing excellent customer service landed her in the company of major league baseball umpires, celebrities, and regular joes alike. June’s work helping people from all walks of life brought her great happiness and fulfillment.

She tagged third base, moving to Vernon Hills, Ill., where she spent the past seven years of her life. June loved her family most of all, spending much of her time visiting her children, grandchildren, and siblings. She slid into home, dust flying, leaving sadness but having lived her final days to their absolute fullest by attending a Yankee game as a belated birthday celebration in New York City.

Survivors include her children, Pam (Bill) Saxelby, Libertyville, David Reesman, Greenfield, Patrick Reesman, Phoenix; grandchildren, Anne (Patrick) Martins, Megan Saxelby, Bill (Megan) Saxelby, Rick Reesman, Eric (Heather) Reesman, Nick (Nicole) Reesman, David Reesman; great-grandchildren, Caiyden and Wyatt; sister, Florence Lentz,; and brother, Ralph Garland.

She was further preceded in death by her sister, Caroline Romie, and her brother, Jack Garland.

Visitation is Monday, July 23, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m., at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 Park Ave., (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
