Martin “Marty” G. Darling, 58, Elkhorn, died Jan. 27, 2012. He was born on Aug. 13, 1953, to the late George V. Sr. and Marylou H. (Swanson) Darling. He spent his early life in Illinois and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
On July 2, 1994, in Burlington, he married Barbara Schwarzhuber-Barrios. They lived in Burlington until building their dream home in Elkhorn in 2007.
His life was a journey that he lived with no regrets. He was very passionate about his beliefs and wanted nothing more than to share his experiences with those he loved.
As a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 150, he had a tremendous work ethic that he instilled in his children. He left an impression on everyone he touched and will be remembered always.
Survivors include his wife; children, Julie (Jason “Red” Hazelbaker) Darling of Ellington, Fla., Martin J. (Robb Martzen) Darling of St. Petersburg, Fla., Josѐ (Angela) Barrios of Waterford, Joseph Darling of Ark., Anthony (Ashley) Barrios of Burlington, Jesse (Kayla Bemis) Barrios of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Kayla, Sommer, Hannah, Abby, Ellie and Caine; a sister; three brothers; many in-laws; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 4, from 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington

I am so sorry to hear about your husband passing.
I have thought of you often during the past few years, and hoped you were living the life that you deserved. It sounds like Marty was a very good man, and I’m glad you had someone like him in your life.
