Mary J. Warren, 79, Burlington, died Sept. 18, 2012, at her home. She was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Chicago, to the late Anton and Carmella (Persin) Mihaljevich. She spent her early life in Chicago and California, eventually moving to Wisconsin. She graduated from Racine-Kenosha County Teaching College.
On Sept. 4, 1954, in Burlington, she married Wallace P. Warren. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1991.
She taught school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Lyons. She so enjoyed working as teacher and remembered her students fondly. She spoke often of those special times. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was an ardent art and music lover. She loved animals and rescued more than one. She had a very generous heart and always reached out to those in need.
Mary had truly found peace being a Jehovah Witness. Her brothers and sisters in the Burlington Congregation have embraced and uplifted Mary throughout the years.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Gina) Warren, Lake Geneva, Maria (Chris) Nelson, Elkhorn; grandchildren, Stephanie Brito, Melissa Warren, Jacquelyne Warren and Kimberly Warren; great-grandchildren, Jarek and Treysen; brother, John Mihaljevich; niece and nephew, Michael and Michelle; ; cousin, Millie Ketterhagen and her children, Diane and Peter.
A memorial service was Sept. 22, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, with Elder Blair Muzzy officiating.
