Nina Marie Matthias, 75, died peacefully Feb. 5, 2012, with her loved ones nearby.
Nina, better known as “Ma,” was born in Chicago, on Sept. 24, 1936. She married Robert Edwards, having had three sons, Robert, Randy and Ronald, and a daughter, Renee. She later then married the love of her life Clyde “Boots” Matthias, and completed her family having David and Thomas.
To know Ma, was to admire her. She worked very diligently at Baxter for 25 plus years and then retired. When not working, she enjoyed horseshoes, gambling, shopping, dancing, animals, crossword puzzles and most of all her beloved Green Bay Packers.
Ma had such unconditional love for her family, and a shining heart of gold that will always be remembered. Her humor and one-liners would enlighten any situation. To meet her once, she would leave an everlasting impression in your mind, and in your heart.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Lori) Edwards, Ronald Edwards, Renee Edwards, David (Debi) Matthias and Thomas (Patty) Matthias; 23 grandchildren and a small army of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Matthias; son, Robert Edwards; and grandson, Christopher Cook.
A gathering in celebration of Nina’s life is Saturday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. at Bonnie and Clyde’s Hideaway, 485 S. Jefferson St., Waterford. Purath-Strand Funeral Home & Crematory, Racine, is serving the family.
