Raymond L. Newbury, 88, Rochester, died September 10, 2012 at East Troy Manor.
He was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Kenosha County, to the late Lawrence and Frieda (Bosselman) Newbury.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant Pilot during World War II.
On Feb. 20, 1954, in Highland Park, Ill., he married Ethel Joerndt. Following marriage they resided in Malta, Ill., and later in life retired to Rochester, Wis. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2011.
He worked as a soil scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He enjoyed woodworking, including making furniture for his family. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family.
Survivors include his children, Grant (Carol) Newbury, Hollywood, Md., Kent (Diane) Newbury, Fox Point, Jan (Norm) Easey, Sarasota, Fla, and Joy (Chris) Forberg, New Berlin six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Alvina (Victor) Crome.
Private family services were held. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, served the family.
