Robert G. Rosenthal, 79, most recently of Leaburg, Ore., died Nov. 23, 2012. He was born in Milwaukee on March 31, 1933, to the late Arthur and Alvina (Meyer) Rosenthal.
He was the owner of Waterford Floral from 1964 to 1981, where he pioneered the use of hydroponics for growing roses. He was a volunteer fireman, and was active in the Lions club and local community.
Survivors include his former wife, Adell; sister Lois (Louis) Zednik and their children Louis Jr. (Mary) and Lee; daughter JoAnne (David) Krempel and their children Nathan, Erin and Joseph; daughter Laurie and her children Kurtis (Melissa) Doerr, Betsy Jo (Joshua) Rogers, Joshua (fiancée Sandy) Doerr and Anna Doerr; and son Michael (Kim) and their children Douglas (Kimberly), Robyn and Danielle; great-grandchildren Abby, Paige, Parker and Zoey (Kurtis) and Reese, Brody and Reagan (Betsy Jo).
He was further preceded in death by a brother, Waldemar; sister-in-law, Jane; and niece, Bonnie.
Owing to his love of the outdoors, Bob was cremated and his ashes will be spread in his favorite fishing hole in Oregon. A visitation will be held at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford, on Monday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service following.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name to the Waterford fire and rescue squad, or a charity of choice are suggested.
