Ruth L. Vorpagel, 86, died unexpectedly Jan. 9, 2012, in her Springfield home She was born Dec. 4, 1925, to the late Julius and Anna Vorpagel, on the family homestead in Lyons Township and resided in Springfield all her life.
She was educated in Springfield grades 1-8 and attended and graduated from Lake Geneva High School.
She retired as an assembly worker from Ajay Leisure Products and Outboard Marine Corp in Delavan, and was a homemaker. She loved gardening, canning, baking, cooking, sewing and creative crafts. She loved family history and collected historical family photos. She had many interesting stories to tell to anyone who stopped in to visit.
Survivors include a brother, Lyle (Anita) Vorpagel, Springfield, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was further preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert, Earl, Clarence, and a sister, Ethel Schinkle.
Funeral services were Jan. 16, Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church, Lake Geneva, with the Rev. Mary Ann Moller-Gunderson officiating. Burial was in the Hudson Cemetery, Lyons. Steinke Funeral Home assisted the family. For online obituary and guest registry go to www.steinkefuneralhomeinc.com.
