TRUDY L. ERICKSON

Trudy Lee Leemkuil Erickson, 64, died unexpectedly at her Monona home Nov. 14. She was born Dec. 9, 1947, in Burlington, to the late Wilbur and Margaret Hamilton Leemkuil.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1966, and from UW-Madison with honors (after almost failing her freshman year – one of her favorite stories).

After graduation she taught science at Forest Park Middle School in Franklin. Throughout the years, she volunteered for many organizations, delivering food and companionship for Meals on Wheels, tutoring and mentoring through Love Inc., visiting often with the elderly and infirm, and one of her favorites – sharing artwork with children as the ‘Picture Lady.’

She devoted her life to raising her children and to loving others. Caring, devoted, and inspiring, Trudy placed great emphasis on her family and her faith, and was a true, loyal friend.

She and Lief Erickson, Jr., were married for more than 40 years.

Survivors also include her children, Christopher (Janae), Bradley (Patty), Lief III (Emily), Elizabeth (and friend Camille); grandchildren, Berkley, Geneva, Finley, and Eleanor; her sister and best friend, Kay (Mark) Dudley; her brother, Dirk (Helen) Leemkuil; nieces; nephews; and dear friends.

On behalf of the family, we want to thank you for your thoughts and prayers. The celebration of her life was held Nov. 19, at Blackhawk Church in Middleton. Cress Funeral & Cremation Services served the family.

Memorial donations in memory of Trudy may be made to Rogers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation to support mental health services and awareness, a cause dear to Trudy’s heart. Donations may be made online by visiting http://rogersmemorialfoundation.org or by calling (262) 646-1646.
