Arbell J. Miles, 78, died Nov. 17, 2013, at her home in Powers Lake.
She was born Sept. 29, 1935, to the late Paul and Helen (Ring) Lancour. She spent her early life in Escanaba, Mich., then Spring Prairie, where she attended school. She later worked at the Elkhorn Hospital.
On June 13, 1953, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, she married Joseph B. Miles. Following marriage they made their home in the Burlington area before moving to Florida for 30 years. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2008.
She was a homemaker but also worked with her husband in the family asphalt business while living in Wisconsin. After moving to Florida they owned and operated Big Lake Lodge Resort.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burlington, St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Fort Pierce, Fla., and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster. She loved to sew and garden and enjoyed the time she spent canning her fresh grown produce. She especially loved any time she could spend with her family and grandbabies.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Sandy) Miles, Bristol, Connie Childs, of Fort Pierce, Scott (Mary) Miles, Salem, Cindy (Richard) Hoffmann, Salem, Timothy (Debbie) Miles, Rockford, Ill., Joseph Miles, Florida; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Ted Chapman and Joe Trutwin; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Chapman, Roseanne Trutwin, Delores ‘Dee Dee’ Artz and brother, Paul Lancour.

Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4-8 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 S. Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Services are Friday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Stafford officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
