Dolores M. Walker, 86, formerly of Silver Lake and the Towers in Kenosha, died March 1, 2013, at Clairidge House, Kenosha.
She was born May 26, 1926, in Burlington, to the late Bernard and Frances (Robers) Busch. Dolores was a former member of the VFW Post No. 3875 Ladies Auxiliary, Silver Lake; the Kenosha Senior Citizens Center Computer Club, Intergenerational Fair-Senior Volunteer Program, Western Kenosha Co. Historical Society and A.B.L.E. Before her retirement in 1991, Dolores started her career as Deputy Village Clerk and Administrative Assistant to the Village Board of Silver Lake and had served as Village Clerk and Treasurer.
Dolores was accomplished at tatting, knitting, seamstress work, and gardening. On Dec. 1, 1945, she married Charles Walker at St. Peter Church, Spring Grove, Ill., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2012.
Survivors include daughters, Jeannie (Gene) Knutson of Elkhorn, Terry (Tom) Walker-Wedell of Antioch, Ill., and Mary (John) Rader of Wildwood, Ill.; grandchildren, Karen (Eric) Neusen, Dale Knutson, Kyle Rader, and Nora Rader; great-grandchildren, Luke, Emma, and Leah; siblings, Leon Busch, Evie Elfmann, Patty Miller and Jennie Vierke; nieces; nephews; relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Dick, Jim, and Jack.
Funeral services are Saturday March 9, at 11:30 a.m. at Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, Ill., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Guests are invited to wear Dolores’s favorite color, pink, to the visitation and service. Dolores’s urn will be placed by her husband in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, at a later date.
