DORIS M. FOX

 

Doris M. (Koethe) Fox, 88, Burlington, formerly of Amery, Wis., died peacefully on Feb. 28, 2013, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove.

She was born July 3, 1924, in Cushing Minn., to the late Charles and Grace (Morrison) Koethe. She spent her early years in St. Paul, Minn., where she later met and married John ‘Jack’ Fox. In 1954 after Jack’s death in a car accident, she and her daughter, Peg moved to Amery, where Doris worked for the next 32 years at the Cornwall Clinic, which later became the Amery Regional Medical Center.

After retiring in 1986 Doris moved to Racine to live with Peg and her family.

In 1993, Doris, Ila Lawton (Jim’s mom) and the family moved to Burlington, where they currently reside. Doris was a people person who will be remembered for her kind loving personality and her love of jokes.

She enjoyed her photography, cooking, fishing and staying in close contact with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Peg (the late Jim) Lawton; grandchildren, Brandon (Cailin) and Brett Lawton; great-grandchild, Magdalene ‘Maggie’ Lawton; and many relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by six brothers, one sister and son-in-law, Jim Lawton.

A memorial service was March 6, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, with Chaplain Larry Williams officiating.
