Dorothy E. Baker, 91, Burlington, died April 14, 2013, at Arbor View Communities. She was born April 1, 1922, in Endeavor, to the late David and Inez Jacobson. She spent her early life on the family farm in Endeavor and was a graduate of Endeavor High School.
On June 18, 1943, in Madison, she married Harold L. Baker. Following marriage they resided in Rapids City, S.D., before making their home in Burlington in 1946. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2000.
She had worked for Tobin’s Drug Store and was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to be physically active, and enjoyed playing golf, shopping, cooking and baking. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Bradley (Cheryl) Baker of Lyons, and David (Donna) Baker of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Stephanie (Markus) Thomsen, Kyle Baker, M’Lissa (Tom) McDonald, Heather Chase; great-grandchildren, Markus “Duke” Thomsen, Ava Thomsen and Kaylan Chase; and sister, Thelma “Hum” Harmsen.
She was further preceded in death by her sisters, Vera (Bud) Call, and Bertha Midey; and brother-in-law, Eugene “Les” Harmsen.
Visitation is Thursday, April 18, from 3 p.m., until time of services at 5 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Robert Wang will officiate. Burial is Friday, April 19, at 1 p.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
