Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’ Weis, 79, Burlington, died Feb. 11, 2013, at her home. She was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Burlington, to the late John and Eleanor (Bieneman) Zelenski. She attended St. Frances Xavier, Brighton, and St. Mary’s School, Burlington, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
She had worked at Burlington Wholesale Grocery and later served a term as town clerk for the Town of Burlington. She had also worked as the treasurer for Southeast Mutual Insurance.
On Aug. 28, 1954, she married William J. Weis Jr., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burlington. Following their marriage, Bill and Betty, continued to operate the Weis family farm, while raising their four children. She was a member of St. Charles Parish in Burlington. She enjoyed spending time outdoors on the farm either in the garden or the backyard. She also enjoyed time by the water fishing and reading a good book. She and Bill enjoyed their short trips up north as well as their annual February destination trips.
Survivors include her husband; children, Kevin (Kristin) Weis, Jacqueline (Mark) Enright, Janice (Randy) Richter, Terrance (Denise) Weis; grandchildren, Matthew Weis, Andrew Weis, Nicholas (Kelly) Enright, Jennifer Enright, Anthony Enright, Aaron Richter, Alex Richter, Autumn Weis; great-grandchildren, Ann Enright and Zoe Enright; her brothers, Robert (MaryAnn) Zelenski, Joseph (Phyllis) Zelenski, Richard (Audrienne) Zelenski, Michael (Phyllis) Zelenski; sister-in-law, Marian (Ray) Richter; brother-in-law, Robert (Sue) Weis; nieces; nephews; cousins and numerous friends.
She was further preceded in death by her stepmother, Loretta (Bieneman) Zelenski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Drusilla Weis; brothers-in-law, Francis (Lunetta) Weis, Lloyd (Betty) Weis, Arthur (Grace) Weis; and sister-in-law, Ginny Zelenski.
Visitation is Monday, Feb. 18, from 3-6:30 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 7 p.m., at St. Charles Church. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial is Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
