Elizabeth Jane ‘Betty’ Meininger, 91, Burlington, died Jan. 5, 2013, at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington surrounded by family.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1921, in Milwaukee, to the late Albert R. and Mayme (Meyers) Treder. She spent her early life and received her education in Racine.
She had been a resident of Burlington since 1993 and was a member of Honey Creek Baptist Church and the Western Racine County Republican Women’s Club. She was a former member of the Burlington Women’s Club. She volunteered twice a month at the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, word searches, swimming, flying, butterflies and nature. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She went parasailing when she was 65 and flew in a lightweight plane when she was 70.
Survivors include her children, Robert Meininger, Michael (Lynn) McTrusty, Linda Mathos, Nancy (Charles) Horn, Thomas Meininger; grandchildren, Leah Mathos and Carrie (Simon) Griffeth, Katie, Robert and Amanda Horn, Beth Meininger and Matthew McTrusty.
She was further preceded in death by aunts and uncles.
Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 2, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m., at Honey Creek Baptist Church, 35512 Washington Ave., Honey Creek. Inurnment will follow the service at Honey Creek Baptist Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.
