Florencio ‘Lencho’ Alvarez Jr., 74, Burlington, died Feb. 2, 2013, at his home. He was born on March 3, 1938, in Kenosha, to Florencio and Mary (Yanel) Alvarez Sr. He spent his early life in Kenosha before moving to Burlington at age 17. He was a graduate of Burlington High School, a supervisor for NEL Frequency in Burlington and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons, Florencio (Susan) Alvarez III, Kevin (Janell) Alvarez, Craig Alvarez, all Burlington; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Jacob, Joel, Toni, Bryce and Shawn Alvarez; his mother; siblings, Caroline Grisham, Mary (Frank) Brown, Tony (Mary) Alvarez, Luis (Pat) Alvarez, Suzie Alvarez, Ramon Alvarez, AnaMaria Cotton; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, José Alvarez; niece, Linda Sue Grisham; nephew, Billy Brown; and brother-in-law, Jack Grisham.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Funeral services are Feb. 8, at noon at St. Charles Catholic Church, Burlington. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery.
