George J. Maniscalco Sr., 91, Burlington died May 30, 2013, at Kindred Health Care Center. He was born Oct. 5, 1921, to the late Albert and Josephine (Baratta) Maniscalco in Baton Rouge, La. His early life was spent in Chicago where he attended and graduated from Washburn Trade School.
On Dec. 13, 1943 he married Gloria J. Bellizzi in St. Genevieve’s Church, Chicago. Following marriage they resided in Franklin Park with a summer home on Bohners Lake, before moving to Burlington, where they resided the past 64 years.
He was a veteran and had served in the army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed painting, working on novelty and crafts and was a very talented carpenter.
Survivors include his wife; children, George Jr. (Bonnie) Maniscalco, Barrington Hills, Ill., William (Emma) Maniscalco, Dundee, Ill., James (Joan) Maniscalco, Glendale Heights, Ill., John Maniscalco, Chicago; grandchildren, Brian Maniscalco, Frank Maniscalco, Jennifer (Scott Lingren) Maniscalco, Gina Webb and Michael Maniscalco; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Simone Lingren-Maniscalco, Jasmine and River Maniscalco, and Madison Webb.
He was further preceded in death by siblings, Anna, Leona and Joseph.
Inurnment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, June 6, at noon with the Rev Joseph Debski officiating. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
