Harold E. Ward, 83, Lyons died peacefully on June 15, 2013, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.
He was born April 8, 1930, to the late Harold and Rose (Chester) Ward in Woburn, Mass. His early life was spent in Boston.
On July 30, 1955, he married JoAnn Satterstrom at Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church. They resided in Lyons the past 50 years. He had served in the Korean War, and had been employed by and retired from Lavelle Rubber. He was a member of the American Legion, Lyons Fire Department and Rescue Squad for 48 years and attended Faith Chapel in Burlington. He was dedicated to his family and community. He was a founder and commander of the Lyons Drill Team and one of the founders of the Lyons Rescue Squad. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; children, Eddie Ward, Grand Prairie, Texas, Laurel (Joe) Norwood, Burlington; grandchildren, Tyler, Sarah, Chris, Jeremy, Wesley and Billy; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Balchuck and Dorothy ‘Dot’ Conte.

Visitation is Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m., until time of services at 1 p.m., at Faith Chapel Evangelical Church, 141 Westridge Ave., Burlington. The Rev. Charles Huyett will officiate. Burial will follow in Hudson Cemetery, Lyons. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
