Helen K. Briere, 91, Burlington, died March 6, 2013, at Pinebrook Pointe Assisted Living. She was born April 6, 1921. in New Munster, to the late Edward A. and Dora C. (Kresken) Hunsbusher. She had been a lifetime resident of New Munster and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
She married Joseph F. Briere. She was an assistant executive secretary for Arnold Bushman Enterprise Inc. from 1941 until 1986. She was a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and an active member of the choir and the Ladies Guild. She had also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary in Silver Lake, the Jolly Seniors Bowling Group and to the Catholic Order of Foresters. Her hobbies included playing cards, especially sheepshead and euchre as well as bowling.
Survivors include her sons, David (David DuPre) Briere, Chicago, and Donald (Lorraine) Briere, Lake Geneva; brother-in-law, William Uhen; two nieces and a nephew.
She was further preceded in death by her infant daughters, Donna Marie and Elizabeth Ann; sisters, Mary Bier and Genevieve Uhen; and nephew, Michael Uhen.
Visitation is Saturday, March 9, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
