Jessie A. Therkildsen, 93, Waterford, died July 2, 2013, at Waterford Senior Living.
She was born July 17, 1919, in Chicago to the late Frederick and Jennie (Read) Scott. She grew up in the Austin area of Chicago graduating from Austin High School.
On Sept. 11, 1945, she married Oliver James Therkildsen at Austin Congregational Church. Following marriage they lived in Chicago, Berkeley, Ill., Elmhurst, Ill., Valrico, Fla., and Leesburg, Fla., before moving to Waterford five years ago. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2008.
She worked as a bank teller for 22 years at York State Bank in Elmhurst. She had a great love of her family, especially her great-grandchildren. In retirement she loved to paint scenery, working in the garden, going for walks in the park, boating on their pontoon boat, dancing and playing Pitch n’ Putt.
Survivors include her sons, James (Helga) Therkildsen, Burlington, Thomas (Bernie) Therkildsen, Elgin, Ill.; grandchildren, David (Cheyenne) Therkildsen, Mukwonago, Kristina (Christos) Demolas, Burlington, Erik (Elizabeth) Therkildsen, Glen Ellyn, Ill., Mike Therkildsen, Naperville, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Demitri Demolas, Oliver Therkildsen, Jack Therkildsen, Peyton I. Therkildsen, Ryan Therkildsen, Peyton E. Therkildsen, Melina Demolas; brother, Frederick Scott, Newberry, Fla.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her sister, Ulah Ingram.
Visitation is Saturday, July 6, from 3 p.m., until time of services at 6 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.
Memorials to National Alzheimer’s Association or Waterford Senior Living are suggested.
