Joan M. Sumner, 74, Burlington, died April 26, 2013, at Geneva Lake Manor. She was born May 14, 1939, to the late William and Florence (Wettstein) Mroch in Monroe County. Her early life was spent in La Crosse where she graduated from Aquinas High School.
She married Charles W. Sumner who preceded her in death Aug. 20, 2003.
She was a very gifted crafter and enjoyed making porcelain dolls, ceramics, crocheting, painting, needlepoint and various other crafts. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Joan (Steve) Licht, Burlington, Troy (Tracy Evans) Sumner, Napoleon, Ohio; stepson, Charles W. Sumner, Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Dena (Bruce) Laubinger, Genoa City, Eric (Jessica) Licht, Lake Geneva, Taylor McMahon, Napoleon, Marky McMahon, Napoleon; great-grandchildren, Jazmine Laubinger and Kieden McMahon; siblings, her twin June (Les) Trehus, Carol Ann (Max) Spaulding, Helen (Bill) Schrader, George (Connie) Mroch, David (Leslie) Mroch, Kathy (Terry) Paepke; sisters-in-law, Shirley Mroch, Mollie Mroch and Brenda Mroch.
She was further preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Mroch, Ronald Mroch, William Mroch and Chuck Mroch.
Visitation is Saturday, May 4, from noon until time of memorial service at 1:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Jim Volkert will officiate.
