JOSEPH W. HAUSWIRTH


Joseph W. Hauswirth 77, Kansasville, died Jan. 13, 2013, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital following an accident. Joe was born Sept. 12 1935, to the late Rudolph Hauswirth and LaVern (Bantle) Hejl in La Crosse. His early life was spent with Henry and LaVern Hejl in La Crosse where he graduated from high school.

On June 23, 1956, he married Faye Lynch with whom he had five children. On Oct. 23, 2009, he married Janell Arneson.

He had worked for American Motors, was a member of the Local Union 72 UAW and had served in the Marines Reserves.

He was a passionate outdoorsman. He loved fishing in both the summer and wintertime, hunting up north, playing softball and just being out in nature. He enjoyed watching sports and NASCAR and was a diehard Packer fan. He treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his “keen” fashion sense, his love for short stories and most of all his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife Janell; children, Jerry (Michelle) Hauswirth, Kansasville, Lisa (Rich Coburn) Hauswirth, Union Grove, Ann (Dan) Bankenbush, Franksville. He is further survived by Meagan and Josh Arneson; his grandchildren, Autumn, Joel, Josh, Brian, Katie, Melissa, Nick, Collin and Lennon; his great-grandchildren,  Michael, Tony, Ollie, LauraLi, Aaden, Lilly and Jasper; and a sister, Kay Watts.

He was further preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Hauswirth; son, Joseph Hauswirth Jr.; and brother-in-law, Sam Watts.

Visitation is Friday, Jan. 18, from 4-8 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove. Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2:30 p.m., at the funeral home. The Rev. Larry Williams will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Trauma ICU and Surgical Unit at Froedtert Hospital.
