JULIE ANN JOCHEM EVANS

Julie Ann Jochem Evans, 58, died Aug. 22, at University Hospital of Colorado following a tragic accident in South Dakota. Family members and dearest friends were at her side.

Julie was born May 2, 1955, to Ralph (Sam) Jochem and Elizabeth (David) Jochem in Burlington. She attended St. Charles Grade School, Burlington High School, and continued to graduate from UW–Whitewater with a teaching degree, after which she received her Masters Degree and graduated Suma Cum Laude.

She worked in several teaching positions both prior to going to Oak Creek West Middle School, Franklin for 18 years. She worked with the gifted and talented and taught courses in brain research and multiple learning styles at the graduate level, but was mainly a seventh-grade social studies teacher. She retired 2-1/2 years ago after 32-1/2 years of teaching.

She is survived by her dear mother; brothers, David (Nancy) Jochem, James (Robin) Jochem, Colorado; sister, Mary (Willie) LaBadie; loving nieces and nephews, Chelsey and Lindsey LaBadie, Joseph and Christopher Jochem, Lauren (Zane) Kabrick, Justin Loesch, Alyssa (Jake) Findlay; many loving friends, especially Susie Feller and Becky Desmond who were aware of all of Julie’s plans and loved her so. We are going forward with the wishes that Julie gave to them. Their support has been tremendous. She had many close friends and will be missed by all.

Julie was artistic and talented and enjoyed writing music. Her love of music led her to a life of singing and playing multiple instruments. She was in the process of writing a book, which we hope someday, may be published.

Julie was preceded in death by her father in 1991.

Visitation is Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1-4 p.m., at Veterans Terrace at Echo Park, Burlington. DeWitt & Tabler Funeral Home, Thornton, Colo., assisted the family.
