KAREN M. KLEIN

Karen M. Klein, 65, Burlington, died May 24, 2013, at Zilber Hospice. She was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Burlington, to the late Emil and Madeline (Schneider) Peterson.  She spent her early life in Burlington, Beloit and Patch Grove, graduating from West Grant High School. She later graduated from nursing school in 1977.

She was married to Roger French from 1964 to 1981. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1985. She married Wayne Klein on Oct. 8, 1983.

She had been a resident of Burlington for more than 45 years and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She was a nurse for Burlington Memorial Hospital and a Director of Nursing at various local nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, camping, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; children, Julie (Robert) French Baumeister, Waterford, Jodi (Dick) French Palmer, Waterford, Jeff (Holly) French, Burlington; stepchildren, Chuck (Sandy) Klein, Joe (Rachel) Klein; grandchildren, Robert, Bailey, Madeline ‘Maddie’ Baumeister, Erin French and Collin Klein; sister, Carol (Richard) Behling, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marjorie ‘Ann’ Peterson, Phillip (Lynn) Klein, William French, David French, Mary Jean Valley, Peggy (Joe) Deininger, Mike (Debbie) French, Butch Hammett; close Aunt Romona Wille; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her brother, Robert Peterson; sisters-in-law, Sue Klein and Sue Hammett.

Visitation is Tuesday, May 28, from 3 p.m., until time of service at 6 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Private inurnment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

  1. I am saddened to hear of Karen’s passing. Although we had not seen each other for some time I have always considered her a good friend. My sympathy and thoughts go out to the family.
