Robert ‘Bob’ Daniel Truter Sr., Burlington, 77, died peacefully on Aug. 30, 2013.
He married Sandra B. ‘Charlie’ (Kaebisch) 53 years ago on Oct. 31,1959, at St. Peter’s Church in Waterford.
He was the loving son of late George Edward Truter and Thelma Maxine (Curry) in Springfield, Ill.
Survivors include his children, Cindy Bridgford, Muskego, Robert Jr., Burlington, Dean Edward Truter, Muskego; grandchildren, Jamie (Jason) Patzke, Adam Bridgford; great-grandchildren, Emerson, Giselle and Knox; and brother, Donald Truter.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Patricia, and half-brothers, Stu and Jack.
He enjoyed teaching Sunday school for 13 years at Cross Lutheran in Burlington. He worked for Graf’s Soda for 25 years and then was a custodian at Cooper Elementary School and spent the last 10 years, before retiring, as a greeter at Walmart in Burlington.
He was the recipient of the Mayor of Burlington’s bravery award for saving a family and their house from a fire that was started by vandals.
He loved meeting new people and made friends wherever he went. Many community members have fond memories of Bob playing Santa Claus in the Chalet at Library Park and Walmart.
He has touched so many lives and will never be forgotten.
Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5 p.m., until time of services at 7 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 417 S. Kane St., Burlington. Private committal is Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Waterford. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Truter family are appreciated. Integrity Funeral Service, Waterford, is serving the family.
