Roman J. ‘Red’ Weinborn, 92, Burlington, died April 21, 2013, at Waterford Senior Living. He was born in Burlington on Feb. 24, 1921, to the late Frank and Gertrude Weinborn. He spent his early life and received his education in Burlington.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Marine Corps during World War II.
He married Marge Flatten. Together they enjoyed traveling on weekends to their lakefront home on Laurel Lake in Three Lakes. In 1986 they retired to Three Lakes. She preceded him in death in 1995. He had moved back to Burlington in July of 2012.
His hobbies included snowmobiling, hunting, motorcycle racing and fishing. Along with his wife Marge, he had refinished a boat and together they sailed on Lake Michigan. He also had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying planes.
Survivors include his children, Joan (Larry) Flemming, Kenneth Weinborn; grandchildren, Mike (Tammy) Flemming, Christina (Paul) Voss; great-granddaughter, Haley Voss; and a special adopted granddaughter, Nancy Schoenberg.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Frannie.
Private family services were held. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, served the family.
