Roy ‘Bud’ T. Lightfield Jr., 85, Burlington, died April 6, 2013, at Aurora Lakeland Hospital. He was born June 14, 1927, to the late Roy and Anna (Cizek) Lightfield in Burlington, where he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from both East Troy High School and the Agricultural Short Course in Madison.
On Sept. 17, 1949, he was united in marriage to the late Marjorie Middleton at Burlington United Methodist Church. Following marriage he worked on the family farm. He was a member of the Spring Prairie United Methodist Church, served as a supervisor on the Walworth County Board for many years, served on the Spring Prairie Town Board and was a 4-H General Leader in Spring Prairie. He also served on the Board of Adjustments and the Conservation County Committee. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed playing dart ball, hunting and trapping.
Survivors include his children, Tim (Vione) Lightfield, Mukwonago, Tom (Nancy) Lightfield, Burlington; son-in-law, Robert (Darlene) Magolski, Henderson, Nev.; grandchildren, Kim (Richard) Zabroski, Union Grove, Kellie (Chris) Gonzales, Trenton, N.J., Leighia (Kenneth) Ferrell, Richmond, Va., Lindsey (Donald) Gibbs, Hurricane, Utah, Dr. Karla (fiancé Mark Thomas) Lightfield, Mountain View Calif., Stewart (fiancée Dr. Sarah Francev) Lightfield, Fullerton, Calif., John Lightfield, Burlington; great-grandchildren, Reece Ferrell and Greta Gonzales; a brother, Robert (Marilyn) Lightfield, Burlington; nieces; nephews; cousins; relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Magolski; sisters, Arlene Parkins and Clara Henby.
Visitation is Friday, May 3, at Veterans Terrace at Echo Park, Burlington, from 3 p.m., until time of memorial service at 5 p.m. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the family to be used for a public conservation project in Walworth County, are suggested .
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ridgestone Assisted Living in Elkhorn, the Hospice staff at Lakeland Hospital and Dr. Jennifer Klenske for all their care and support they gave Bud and his family.
He was a great friend. Will always enjoy my memories of him. Rest well my friend.
