Sam S. Muratore, 83, Union Grove, died April 19, 2013. He was born June 4, 1929, in Racine, to the late Giuseppe and Antoinette (Zaglia) Muratore. He spent his early life and received his education in Racine.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, March of 1951 until March of 1953, when he was honorably discharged. He received the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, a United Nations Service Metal, and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan).
He spent his life in the Racine and Union Grove areas and was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, the Union Grove Jaycees, and the Union Grove American Legion Post 171.
He had worked in the shop at Electric Manufacturing, was a driver for 7-UP, a dockworker for CF, as well as selling Mason shoes.
He was a loving father who cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Tom, Joyce and Stephanie. He will be missed by his special friend, Audrey Goodhall.
Survivors include his sons, Greg (Sarah) Muratore, Pacific, Mo., Tim Muratore, Union Grove, Tom (Joyce) Muratore, Union Grove; their mother, Adelial (Klimeck) Muratore, Union Grove; grandchildren, Jason Muratore, Justin Hankins, Tony Muratore, Casandra Muratore, Audrey Muratore, Amanda Muratore and Stephanie Muratore; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Cathern ‘Kay’ Parr, Frank (Lynn) Muratore, Phyliss (Russell) Fergus and Mary Jo (Jim) Esser; sister-in-law, Helene Muratore; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his son, Angel Muratore; a brother, Joseph Muratore; aunts and uncles.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 23, from 4-8 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove. Funeral services are Wednesday, April 24, at 10 a.m., at St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church. The Rev. Russel Arnett will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.
