Thomas F. Cable, 85, died Feb. 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1927, to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Miller) Cable and raised in Chicago. He served three years with the Merchant Marines, then joined the Army Airborne Division and became a paratrooper.
He married Pauline Pushkarsky 65 years ago and settled in Burlington, where they raised three sons.
After a 28-year career with the Burlington Police Department, he retired to the North Woods area, where he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Tom (Sheila), Richard (Kathy), John (Diane); grandchildren, Krystyna (Michael) Hase, Joe (Deb) Cable, Libby (Jared) Benz, Kasha (Jake) Rasmussen, Sarah Cable, Emily Cable; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Duane) Thamm and Nancy (Ed) Lampa; and other relatives.
A memorial service is Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11:30 a.m., at Amy Chapel, E9960, 370th Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54703. Visitation is at Amy Chapel on Saturday morning one hour prior to service. Luncheon will follow service. Joe Cable, grandson, will officiate. Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, Eau Claire, is serving the family.
