WILBERT W. SCHILLING

Wilbert W. Schilling, 84, Waterford, died March 30, 2013, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington. He was born Jan. 28, 1929, to the late Reinhold and Lydia (Schaeffer) Schilling in Ashley, N.D.

He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War.

On Nov. 2, 1952, he married Darlene M. Rath in Leola, S.D. They lived for many years in Leola and later moved to Burlington. They had resided in Waterford for the past 10 years.

He was a truck driver for more than 30 years and retired from L.C.L. Transit in Green Bay. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where he had served as a trustee.

He enjoyed woodworking. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years; children, Leven ‘Lee’ (Pat) Schilling, Terry Schilling, LeAnn (Jack) Shecterle, Tim (Joyce) Schilling and Sandy (Jim) Ducommun; grandchildren, Angie (Dave) Ratkowski, Jolene (Jim) Flees, Jenny Schilling, Chrissy Schilling, Shannon Schilling, Tanya Schilling and Emalea Ducommun; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Karly, Cory, Caitlyn, Alexis, Jada, Aaliyah and Lili; a sister, Vivian (Les) Hoff, S.D., and a brother: Marvin (Norma) Schilling, California; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven.

Visitation is Thursday, April 4, from 3-4:45 p.m., with services at 5 p.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 417 S. Kane St., Burlington. Burial is Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m., in Oakwood Cemetery (Hwy. 83), Waterford. Mealy Funeral Home Waterford, is serving the family.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church.

  1. So sorry to hear of Wilbur’s passing. He was such a nice man. Thoughts and prayers are with family.
