Cheryl L. Stardy, 68, Lyons, died at her home on May 12, 2014. She was born in Cook County, Ill., on May 16, 1945, to the late Arthur E. and Helen L. (Harvey) Grosskopf. She spent her early life in Chicago, where she graduated from Park Ridge High School.
On Jan. 23, 1965, she married James George Stardy, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Burlington. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington where they raised their family. Jim and Cheryl met and fell in love, when they both worked at Echo Lake Farm Produce.
She had also worked at White River Boat Works building fiberglass pools and canoes, but her favorite job was working as a CNA at Mt. Carmel Care Center.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and trips to Lyndon Station. Her favorite times were when she spent time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; children, James (Diane) Stardy Jr., Menomonee Falls, Theresa (Wayne) Dahlke, Lyons; grandchildren, John Stardy, Samantha Dahlke, Rusty Dahlke; siblings, Sandra (James) Zagroba, Willow Springs, Mo., Diane (Charles) Tess, Salem, Dennis Grosskopf, Lyons; and her BFF, Beverly Tess (Kemo Sabe).
She was further preceded in death by her infant son, James; two brothers; and many other loved family and friends.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested by the family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ruggeri and all the Vince Lombardi staff whose healing hands touched our hearts. Private services will be held. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
