KATHERINE FLYNN

Easter Lily Katherine ‘Kate’ Flynn, 87, Waterford, died May 20, 2014, at Waterford Senior Living Memory Care.

She was born in Janesville, on Oct. 5, 1926, to the late Hugh R. and Emma J. (Scidmore) Terwilliger. She spent her early life in Janesville where she graduated from Janesville High School in 1945. She moved to Burlington in 1955.

On Oct. 24, 1981, she married Raymond Hester at Our Savior Lutheran Church. They made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1995. On April 6, 2002, she married James W. Flynn at Our Savior Lutheran Church. They lived in Burlington before moving to Waterford Senior Living.

She worked at Burlington Mills, at Burlington Animal Hospital with Dr. Wilson and Dr. Sorge, and at Foster Forbes, but her greatest job was being a wife and mother.

She was the church secretary at United Methodist Church in Burlington where she was a past member. Currently she was a member at Our Savior Lutheran Church where she was also active with the Ladies Guild. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed camping and traveling in their RV and had the opportunity to take a trip to Ireland. She was a great animal lover, enjoyed gardening where she had a large flower and vegetable garden. She was always one to maintain a kind and simple demeanor throughout her life, with one exception, those fall Sunday afternoons when watching her beloved Green Bay Packers. Any call by the referee against her team would result in a loud “You Dirty Bird!” aimed at the screen.

(Thomas) Jung, Burlington; stepchildren, Shirley (Norm) Richter and family, Delavan, Steve (Kim) Flynn and family, Elkhorn; grandchildren, Christopher L. (Darla) Yanny, Matthew E.
