ROBERT P. MENTEL

Easter Lily      Robert P. Mentel, 63, Burlington, died unexpectedly July 31, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 15, 1950, to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Bonk) Mentel. He spent his early life in Milwaukee where he graduated from Boys Tech High School. He was also a graduate of University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with a BBA in accounting.

On Oct. 16, 1976, in Chilton, he married Margaret ‘Maggie’ Holst. Following marriage they made their home in Oak Creek and Racine before moving to Burlington where they raised their family.

He was the plant controller for St. Gobain in Burlington for 11 years. Most recently he was the controller at UTC in Pleasant Prairie. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, enjoyed golfing and was known as Mr. Fix-It, whether it was working on cars or fixing something around the house. He was an avid fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers and enjoyed inviting his friends over for a backyard barbecue.

Survivors include his wife; children, Sarah Mentel and Andrew Mentel, both Milwaukee; sisters, Nancy Mentel, Greenfield, Mary (Bernard) Heinrich, Waukesha; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, on Tuesday, 2-5 p.m. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
