William A. Tigges, 72, Burlington, died April 17, 2014, at his residence, following a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Racine, to the late William A. Tigges. He became a long time resident of Browns Lake in Burlington. He enjoyed fishing, swimming and boating, with a particular passion for vintage wooden boats. He had a keen interest in exotic and antique automobiles. He also loved rehabbing lake cottages and formed enduring friendships with many of his tenants.
After serving six years with the National Guard, 32nd Division, Bill spent 39 years within the Johnson Wax family of companies. His career included production and technical positions. At the time of his retirement in 1999, Bill was a marketing specialist.
Survivors include his sister, Judith McClellan; niece, Susan Green; nephews, Michael Frank, Thomas McClellan and William McClellan; eight great-nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles, including his ‘very special’ Aunt Dawn Tigges; and numerous cousins. Many friends, neighbors and ‘drinking buddies’ will miss Bill at 4 o’clock cocktails.
He was further preceded in death by his older sister, Nancy Frank; niece, Amy Frank; and nephew, Barry Frank; great-aunts, Della Tigges and Ella Engelbreth;
Visitation is Sunday, May 18, from 2-2:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with a memorial service immediately following at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of life in memory of Bill at the Waterfront in Burlington immediately following the memorial service.
Burial is Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m., at Graceland Cemetery, Racine.
It is with love and appreciation that thanks be extended to Vitas Hospice and the many cousins, friends and neighbors who so willingly met all of Bill’s wants and needs during his illness and his struggle to remain independent and at home.
