Elaine C. (Buse) Strueder, 78, died Jan. 6, 2015, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She spent her life as a hard-working farm wife in rural Waterford, mothering every animal that crossed her path. A lifelong dance partner of her husband Larry, her many talents included her meticulous sewing and crocheting, both vegetable and flower gardening, and passing her love of gardening on to her children. She enjoyed nothing more than browsing her cookbooks for a new recipe, listening to Bob Uecker during Brewers games, and raising her ducks and chickens. Her specialty, however, was baking cookies for her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and an active member of Ladies Aid and Altar guild.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Strueder of nearly 56 years; children, Marlene (Mike) Brunner, Green Bay; Donald (Julie Minikowski) Strueder, Burlington; Steven (Candice) Strueder, Carolyn Strueder, both Waterford; grandchildren, Ryan, Brad and Sean Strueder and William and Ben Brunner; cousins, Gladys Schroeder and Beverly Ladwig; as well as the many members of the Strueder clan; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Walter Buse; son, David Strueder; in-laws, Anna and Fred Strueder; and cousin, Wayne Weber.
Funeral services are Saturday, Jan. 10, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 145 S. 6th St., Waterford. Visitation in church Saturday from 10-12:15 p.m. Burial will be in St. Peter’s cemetery following services. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
