Sandra T. Colvin (Sandy), 76, of Burlington, formerly of Rockton, Ill. and New Bedford, Mass., passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017, in the comfort of her home. She was born on May 11, 1941, to the late Francisco and Ermelinda Ormonde. On June 2, 1962, she married her soul mate John Colvin. They just celebrated 55 wonderful years together.
When she was a secretary with the United States Air Force at Otis Air Force base, she met her beloved husband, John. Upon moving to Illinois, she became a real estate agent and later worked as an airport security officer in Wisconsin.
Sandy had the ability to light up a room with her optimism and cheerful spirit. She always put others before herself. Her selfless nature touched many lives. She will always be remembered for her vibrant smile, loving heart and ability to make everyone laugh. She valued family deeply and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Sandy was deeply rooted in her faith and put all of her trust in the Lord until the very end. She gained her strength through constant prayer and rejuvenated her spirit by attending mass regularly at St. Charles Catholic Church.
One of her favorite pastimes was volunteering and participating in activities at the Burlington Senior Center where she and John were recently honored as Seniors of the Year for their volunteer efforts. Sandy enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing games, relaxing at the beach and of course playing the slots. Most important to her was spending time with her family; whether it be back home in Massachusetts, here in the Midwest, or attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Sandy will be dearly missed by her loving husband, John; daughter, Tiffanie (Dennis) Butler of Chatham, Ill.; son, Eric (Katie) of Rockton, Ill.; and her adoring grandchildren, Alexander, Samuel, Abigail, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Cassidy, Emily, Zack, Christian and Anna; as well as sister, Patricia Taylor; nieces, Robin David and Kelly Noble; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held Friday, June 23, at St. Charles Church, 440 Kendall St. Burlington. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a time for people to share their favorite memories of Sandy with her family. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
Memorials can be made to the Burlington Senior Center, 201 N Main St. Burlington, WI 53105 in Sandy’s honor.
