Amelia “Amy” M. Regula, 91, of Burlington, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Arbor View Assisted Living.
Amy was born in Burlington on July 31, 1928 to Gustave and Anna (nee Dionne) Runzler. Her early life was spent in Burlington and Chicago, where she graduated RN Nursing School from St. Anthony dePadua in Chicago. On Aug. 27, 1949 in Chicago, she was united in marriage to Edwin Regula. Following marriage, they lived in Chicago, Green Bay and finally Burlington. She has been a resident of the Burlington area for 70 years. Edwin preceded her in death in June 1999.
Amy worked as an RN at Burlington Memorial Hospital. She loved playing pinochle at the Senior Citizen Center, and was a social woman, offering her hospitality whenever she could. She also loved animals, especially Rachel and Petey.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Russell Naylor) Regula; grandson, Edwin Regula III; sister-in-law, Carol Regula; nephews, Sonny (Cindy) Strama, Michael (Patricia) Regula, Joe Nelson and John Nelson and nieces Nancy Sarwinski, Susan Sarwinski and Peggy Calhoun.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Sr.; son Ed Jr.; her sister Evelyn Runzler, aunt Bertha Runzler and uncles Martin Runzler and Otto Runzler.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington and the care givers at Arbor View for their care and compassion during this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington Senior Center.
Private burial services will be held at a later date.
