Barbara A. Swanson, 84, of Burlington, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Lakeland Health Care Center.
Barbara was born in Burlington on Feb. 15, 1936, to Francis “Fritz” and Ann (nee Feser) Schiller. Her early life was spent in Lyons, where she graduated from St. Joseph’s School in Lyons and St. Mary’s High School in Burlington. On July 19, 1963, she was united in marriage to Douglas Swanson. Following marriage, they resided in Lyons before moving to Burlington in 1975.
Barbara was a homemaker and hostess at White Fox Den. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons and later at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. She was an avid gardener, talented artist and enjoyed antiquing and browsing flea markets. She also spent her time baking, doing arts and crafts, singing and playing the piano. She loved to laugh, joke and play with her grandkids and spend time with family and friends. Her most treasured time was when she was with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Douglas; children, Christine (Rene Henriksen) Campbell, Keith (Donna) Swanson, Nicole (Jeff) Eigner and Randall Swanson; grandchildren, Jordan (Holli) Campbell, Emily Swanson, Tyler Swanson, Mackenzie Cole and Alexander Imhof; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Ella, Adleigh and Olivia Campbell; sister, Patricia (James) Hofer; brother-in-law, Ellsworth “Bud” Koehnke; sister-in-law, Judith Schiller; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents along with brother Kenneth Schiller and sister Mary Kay Koehnke.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeland Health Care and Aurora at Home Hospice, Dr. Greg Gerber and the many family and friends for their care and compassion during this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Burlington.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
