Helen Rose Martin, 91, of Waterford, passed peacefully with family at her side at Waterford Senior Living on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021.
Helen was born in Waterford on May 19, 1930, to Leo and Magdeline (nee Blattner) Henningfeld. She attended St. Thomas Graded School. On April 11, 1953, she married John “Jack” Martin. She was a lifelong resident of Waterford where she and her husband loved to play cards especially sheepshead. Helen worked for Burlington Memorial Hospital for some time as an RN assistant. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she loved to help with turkey dinners and fish fries and was a member of the choir. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by five children, Linda (Dale) Vos, Donna (Bruce) Kozminski, Ann (Robert “Bob”) Ebbers, Mary Jo (Andrew) Swayze and John (Barb) Martin Jr.; grandchildren, Randy Vos, Marlene Vos, Jaclyn (Jason) Miller, Katie (Brian) Toman, Kraig (Amanda) Kozminski, Michael (Amber) Ebbers, Taylor (Aaron) Katzenberg, William Ebbers, Robert M. Ebbers, Joshua (Cynthia) Swayze, Abby (Joseph) Livingston, Sarah (Tim) Williams and Christopher (Caitlin) Swayze; 17 Great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack,; and all her siblings, Roman (Marion) Henningfeld, Robert (Agnes) Henningfeld, May (Charles) Beason, Louise (Norbert) Hegemann, Florence (John) Jacobson, Dorothy (Donald) Martin and Leo (Germain) Henningfeld.
Private Family services will be held at St. Thomas Church with burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Vincent DePaul. Helen’s family wishes to send special Thanks to Allay Hospice nurses and staff, along with Waterford Senior Living Nurses and staff for their loving care of our mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
